What is a Floppy?

Floppy disk (or Floppy) is a small, removable type of data storage device. It was used to store and transfer data in the early days of computers. Floppy disk consists of a rigid, flexible plastic or rubber frame with a thin copper strip inside, which is controlled by a disk drive to read and write data.

Floppy disks come in various shapes and sizes, including:

1. 8-inch Floppy: First introduced in the 1970s.

2. 5.25-inch Floppy: Used in the 1980s.

3. 3. 3. 5.5-inch Floppy: Smaller and with a rigid core, popular in the 1990s.

Although the technology was popular in the past, floppy disks have lost popularity with the advent of higher-capacity storage devices such as USB Flash Drives, External Hard Drives, and Cloud Storage.
