What is a Hard disk?

Hard disk (or Hard Disk Drive - HDD) is a type of data storage device used to store data on a computer. It is a storage device that uses mechanical and electrical points to store and retrieve data.

Main components of a Hard Disk:

1. Platter: A round metal point with a platinum coating that is used to store data.

2. Read/Write Head: Used to read and write data to the Platter.

3. Spindle: Used to rotate the Platter to read/write data.

4. Actuator Arm: Guides the Read/Write Head to the location where the data is located.

5. Controller Board: A board that controls the operation of the Hard Disk and connects it to the computer.

Main features:

- Data storage capacity: Hard Disks have a large data storage capacity (GB, TB).

- Low power consumption: They do not use much power.

- Read/write speed: Average speed, but slower than SSD (Solid State Drive).

Types:

1. Internal Hard Disk: HDD installed in a computer.

2. External Hard Disk: HDD that is connected externally via USB or other companies.

Advantages:

- More affordable than SSD.

- More storage capacity.

Disadvantages:

- Access data slower than SSD.

- Can be easily damaged if subjected to a lot of impact.

Hard Disk is an important part of a computer to store data such as OS, documents, programs, and other data.
